Chapter 33 · The Dynamics of Non‑Abiding Mind: How Bodhi Arises from the Ground of No‑Residence

(From Self‑Nature to “Let the Mind Arise Without Abiding Anywhere”)

33.1 What non‑abiding means in the Universe Equation

“Not abiding in form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharmas — let the mind arise.”

These six correspond to six classes of modes in the world‑field Φ. To “not abide” means the observer does not collapse into any single mode:

\(O \not\equiv \Phi_i\)

Non‑abiding is the non‑collapse condition — the observer remains free, not reduced to any sensory or conceptual mode. This freedom is the basis of Bodhi.

33.2 How the mind arises from non‑abiding

\(\text{Mind}_{\text{Bodhi}} = \frac{dO}{dt}\)

When O does not collapse into any mode of Φ, the mind arises freely. Non‑abiding is not emptiness as absence, but emptiness as freedom of response.

33.3 The “Ground of No‑Support” in the Avataṃsaka Sūtra

“I attained the Bodhisattva liberation called the Ground of No‑Support.”

\(0 = 1 + T(\Phi)\)

“No‑support” is the zero‑ground; “道场” is the generative field of awakening. Standing in no‑support means standing in the invariant background of the O–Φ–T loop.

Having awakened oneself, one naturally teaches others.

33.4 The Infinite Samādhi and the Infinite Wisdom‑Organs

\(\text{Infinite Organs} = \text{unbounded coupling bandwidth with } \Phi\)

When O is non‑abiding, it can couple with all modes of Φ without obstruction. This is the meaning of “无尽三昧”.

33.5 Why beings cannot enter this state

\(O_{\text{collapsed}} = \text{projection of } \Phi\)

All spiritual obstacles are forms of abiding; all liberation is the release of abiding.

33.6 The Bodhi‑mind as the non‑abiding generator

\(\text{Bodhi‑Mind} = \frac{dO}{dt} \quad \text{when } O \text{ abides nowhere}\)

It arises from emptiness, functions through freedom, expresses as compassion, manifests as infinite wisdom‑organs, transforms Φ without being bound by Φ, and teaches beings without being bound by beings.

When the mind abides nowhere, self‑nature becomes the generator of infinite wisdom and compassion.

33.7 Summary of Chapter 33

From non‑abiding, the dharmadhātu opens without limit.
