Chapter 35 · The Dynamics of Vow‑Power: The Mathematical Structure of Samantabhadra’s Ocean of Vows

(How the Dharmadhātu Is Driven by Infinite Vow‑Power)

35.1 What vow‑power is in the Universe Equation

\(0 = 1 + T(\Phi)\)

To describe the Bodhisattva path, we introduce a new term:

\(V\)

Vow‑power is a directional operator shaping the evolution of both O (observer) and Φ (world‑field):

\(\frac{d\Phi}{dt} = T(\Phi, O) + V(O)\)
\(\frac{dO}{dt} = T(O, \Phi) + V(O)\)

V adds direction, continuity, and infinite reach to the evolution of mind and world.

35.2 Why vow‑power is infinite

“I vow to liberate all beings.”

Since beings are infinite, the domain of V is infinite:

\(\|V\| = \infty\)

Vow‑power is infinite because its scope is infinite.

35.3 The vow‑power operator

\(V : O \rightarrow \Phi\)

Its key properties:

Directionality. \(V(O) \neq 0\); it always points toward awakening and liberation.

Non‑decay. \(\frac{dV}{dt} = 0\); vow‑power does not weaken with time.

Infinite extension. \(\|V\| = \infty\); it spans ten directions and three times.

V is the only operator that is both directional and infinite.

35.4 Why vow‑power is stronger than karma

\(K = \Delta A_i\) (spectral change)
\(V = \Delta E\) (structural change)

Karma modifies amplitudes of experience; vow‑power modifies the structure of the dharmadhātu itself. Therefore vow‑power can transform karma.

35.5 The “Ocean of Vows” as a recursive system

\(V_{n+1} = T(V_n, \Phi)\)

\(V = \lim_{n \to \infty} V_n\)

Vow‑power expands recursively, generating infinite samādhis, wisdom‑organs, and activities.

35.6 Why beings fail to generate vow‑power

\(O_{\text{collapsed}} = O \text{ with } V = 0\)

Beings fall into self‑doubt, complacency, isolation, or conceptual fixation. These collapse vow‑power to zero. When abiding is released, vow‑power naturally unfolds.

35.7 The Bodhisattva as a vow‑driven system

\(V = \infty\)

\(\text{Buddha} = (O, \Phi, T, V_{\infty})\)

A Buddha is defined not by omniscience or omnipotence, but by infinite vow‑power. All other qualities follow from this.

35.8 Summary of Chapter 35

Vow‑power is the engine of the dharmadhātu,
the force that turns one thought into infinite worlds.
